Sanwo-Olu suspends abortion removal
Lead representative Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State on Thursday requested the suspension of the "State Guidelines on Safe Termination of Pregnancy for Legal Indications" gave by the Directorate of Family Health and Nutrition in the Ministry of Health. Sanwo-Olu said that the suspension would consider satisfactory public sharpening and partner commitment to arrive at an agreement expected for fruitful rule improvement.
As indicated by him, the new rules wouldn't be carried out until sufficient thought.
This was contained in an explanation by Prof. Associated Abayomi, the State's Commissioner for Health, named, "Withdrawal on rules connecting with safe end of pregnancy for clinical reasons in Lagos State'.The explanation read to a limited extent, "Among the few factors that add to maternal mortality, unlawful early terminations and high-risk pregnancies prompting unresolvable confusions rank high.
"The Lagos State Ministry of Health is looking for changed techniques to take out unlawful fetus removals and guarantee that a mother doesn't pass on at labor, in this manner upsetting a whole nuclear family.
"These rules have produced enormous public interest, which has required raising it to Mr Governor.
"To this end, we are suspending the execution of these rules meanwhile for the Executive Council to think on this and guarantee sufficient public sharpening and partner commitment to arrive at an agreement expected for fruitful rule improvement."
